…Kaelen looks at me, and I see the answer to the question that had burdened my inner self for so long. The purpose of my life was never to be the Source, or to fight the darkness, or to hoard the light. It was to be here, in this park, with the people who saw the man I was even when I couldn't see him myself. "What now?" Kaelen asks, his eyes reflecting the golden light of the morning. I look at Kathleen, then at the horizon, where the sea meets the sky in an infinite, shimmering blue. The path is no longer a straight, narrow line toward a destiny; it is a wide, open field of possibilities. "Now," I say, "we live."
