…Leo stood, breathing heavily, his hand still outstretched. The intruders were gone. The splintered door hung precariously on its hinges. The air crackled with residual energy, and the scent of ozone hung heavy. Leo lowered his hand, his shoulders slumping slightly. He looked exhausted, but there was a fierce determination in his eyes. He turned to Maya, his gaze softening as he met hers. “Are you hurt?” he asked, his voice strained. Maya shook her head, finding her voice. “No. But… what was that?” Leo looked towards the broken doorway, his expression grim. “That,” he said, his voice low, “was just the beginning.”
