…She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, a determined glint returning to her gaze. The symbol on her notebook seemed to shimmer, no longer just a cryptic mark, but a promise. A promise of answers, of a hidden truth waiting to be revealed. And she would help Leo find it. She would be his light, his anchor, in the encroaching darkness. The fear was still there, a low hum beneath the surface, but it was no longer in control. Courage, a quiet, stubborn thing, was beginning to bloom in its place. She took a deep, steadying breath, the scent of old paper and charcoal filling her lungs. The night was still dark, but a new dawn was breaking within her.
