His quiet demeanor had vanished, replaced by a steely resolve. “This artifact belongs to no one,” he said, his voice resonating with a power Maya had never heard before. “It is a guardian of balance, and it will not fall into your corrupt hands.” The leader chuckled, a dry, rasping sound. “We shall see.” He raised a hand, and his followers moved forward, their weapons glinting in the soft light.
