That is the only closure you need.” Elara walked away from the alcove, not towards the throng of her family, but towards the exit, towards the cool night air waiting outside. The heavy perfume of lilies faded behind her, replaced by the crisp scent of freedom. The echoes of their laughter, once so painful, now seemed distant, like the remnants of a storm that had long since passed. She didn’t need their understanding, their forgiveness, or their acceptance. She had found something far more valuable: her own peace. The shadows had held their power for too long. It was time, finally, to bask in the sunlight.
