…David, his senses sharpened by an unseen grace, dodged. The spear missed, embedding itself in the wood. Saul, enraged, tried again, but David, with a swiftness that surprised even himself, evaded the second thrust as well. He had escaped twice, the divine protection a shield around him. Saul was afraid of David, for the LORD was with him, and Saul’s own kingdom seemed to slip further from his grasp with every note David played. The shepherd boy, now a warrior, was not just a hero; he was a harbinger of change, a king in the making, and Saul, in his fear, could already feel the shepherd’s crown beginning to press upon his own head.
