…'No.' His arm tightened. Not a question anymore. An answer. In the morning, I would pull every file on Diane Hutchins and map her connections to Mercer's network. I would identify the three locations where Cross kept his leverage and begin planning how to neutralize them. I would account for two trackers who matched descriptions I didn't yet have. But that was morning. And for the next few hours, the only predators in this room were the ones holding each other. I closed my eyes. Sleep came like it always did—reluctant, suspicious, carrying fragments of warehouses and lighthouse paintings and a senator running down a fire escape in dress shoes. Tomorrow would be louder.
