…The secondary containment field activated, a shimmering wall of energy erupting around the pulsating sphere. The entity shrieked, thrashing against the invisible barrier. It was contained, for now. But the fight was far from over. The facility was crippled, its systems failing. The entity was weakened, but not defeated. And I, Rhys Thorne, was bleeding, broken, and bound to this place by a duty I could no longer deny. My last shift had just become my first battle.
