Stella and Cosmo zipped away from Mercury, spinning past the golden glow that wrapped the first planet. Stella loved the warmth on her points, but the adventure called her forward. Before them, a soft, silvery light shimmered—a planet dressed in pale yellow clouds, turning slowly in the gentle warmth of the Sun.
“Look, Cosmo! That must be Venus,” Stella whispered, awed by Venus’s swirling, misty cloak. Venus was graceful, moving steadily in her perfect circle. When Stella and Cosmo floated closer, the planet looked up, her clouds shifting to reveal a smiling face.
“Hello, Stella. Hello, Cosmo,” Venus greeted in a mellow, singing voice. “Come closer, don’t be shy.”
Cosmo nudged Stella, and together they drifted nearer. Curiosity sparkled inside Stella. “Venus, why do you wear such thick clouds?” she asked, admiring the mysterious, glowing veil.
Venus sighed, a dreamy sound. “My clouds keep me cozy, but they make me very warm—sometimes even warmer than Mercury, though I’m farther from the Sun! I spin slowly, so my days and nights are very long. My surface is rocky and hidden, and I love my beautiful, golden mist.”
Stella’s points twinkled brightly. She wanted to see underneath the clouds, but respected Venus’s secret. Cosmo twirled a little closer. “Do you ever get lonely in all those clouds?” he asked gently.
Venus’s face brightened. “Sometimes, yes. But I always watch for friends.” She gave a hopeful look. “Now that you’re here, I’m not lonely at all.”
Stella felt her heart glow. Being a friend was even more special than discovering secrets. She wondered what it would be like to watch the Sun rise so slowly, to glow with hidden warmth behind a golden curtain.
From behind, a sparkling blue dot caught her eye. Earth spun with oceans and green patches, bright with life. Adventure tugged at Stella’s curiosity again, but Venus’s gentle presence was hard to leave behind.
The Sun’s voice rang out, echoing across space. “Will you journey on, little explorers? There is much more to see!”
Stella hesitated, torn between the mystery of Venus and the promise of new discoveries beyond.
