…Amy gently placed Russo back on the blanket, this time with a stern but loving warning. “No more snacks, little mountain goat. Not until after we’ve cleaned up.” Russo gave a little bark of assent, though his eyes still lingered on the remaining strawberries. He knew he was a good boy, mostly. And he knew that even though he’d caused a bit of a commotion, Amy and Rex still loved him. That was the best treat of all. The adventure, it seemed, was just getting started, and Russo, the rooftop Chiweenie with a mountain goat’s heart, was ready for whatever came next. He just hoped it involved more snacks.
