…Amy Kathryn nodded, stroking Russo’s head. The rain continued to drum on the leaves above, but inside their treetop haven, a sense of peace and accomplishment settled over them. Russo, the tiny Chiweenie with the heart of a mountain goat, had once again proven that his unique spirit, though often chaotic, was a force to be reckoned with, and sometimes, just sometimes, it was exactly what they needed. As the storm raged, they huddled together, a small, unlikely family safe in the branches of the ancient oak, all thanks to their extraordinary, paper-chewing, tree-climbing hero.
