…Liam’s heart hammered against his ribs. He was twenty years old, and the fate of his species, as he understood it, rested on his shoulders. He could feel the pull of the entities, the seductive logic of their destructive agenda. But beneath the fear, a spark ignited. A flicker of defiance, born from the very isolation and pain that had driven him to seek escape in the first place. He was an anomaly, perhaps, but he was also a part of this flawed, beautiful, chaotic experiment. And he wasn't ready to let it be erased.
