Put God first

…There was love, there was forgiveness, and there was a God who cared about a little boy who sometimes lost his toy soldiers and sometimes said hurtful things. It was a beautiful, innocent faith, untainted by the complexities of the world, a pure wellspring from which I drew comfort and strength. I believed, with the unwavering certainty of childhood, that I had found something precious, something that would guide me, protect me, and keep me safe, always. The light of that Sunday morning in church was still very much alive within me, a warm, guiding star in the vast expanse of my young life.
