…Agnes watched them, a growing sense of dread settling in her stomach. The Great Aroma Festival. She had a terrible feeling that Little Puddleton was about to experience an aroma of a very different kind than Mayor Muffin had intended. The competitive spirit of Barnaby and Cecil, fueled by their absurd "stink-off," had found its ultimate stage, and the town, she suspected, was woefully unprepared. The "Most Distinctive Aroma" competition was about to become less about pleasant fragrances and more about the sheer, unadulterated power of human effluvium. And Agnes, along with the rest of the unwitting townsfolk, was about to be caught in the olfactory crossfire.
