As Bruce glanced back, he caught a gleam in the far window of Mabel’s Diner—a pinpoint of red, burning steadily, watching. He shivered. The embers of the factory’s evil were not snuffed out. They were spreading, burrowing into every crack in the world he thought he knew. He pushed on, Harry at his side, into the uncertain dark. “Let’s finish this,” Bruce whispered. But in the silence that followed, the only answer was the distant, echoing sound of metal scraping on stone, promising that their story was far from over.
