…In the distance, he saw a figure—a man in a uniform, a police officer. Bruce raised his hand, calling out. The officer turned, his face lit by the moon. "I need help," Bruce said, his voice barely a whisper. The officer approached, his hand on his holster. "What happened?" Bruce opened his mouth to speak, but the words wouldn't come. He collapsed to his knees, the weight of everything crashing down on him. The officer knelt beside him, his voice calm. "It's over," the officer said. "You're safe now." Bruce looked up, his eyes hollow. "They're not." He closed his eyes, and the world went dark.
