…The city lights blurred as I ran, each step a desperate flight from the consequences. I had saved Liam, but I had also potentially doomed myself, and perhaps, the resistance. The hunter’s net was tightening, not just around me, but around everything I cared about. And I had just thrown gasoline on the fire. The question now was, could I possibly escape the inferno I had created? Or had I just burned every bridge back to the semblance of a normal life I so desperately craved? The answer, I feared, was already written in the glowing veins that pulsed beneath my skin, a constant, irrefutable testament to my impossible existence.
