…The tension in the room didn’t vanish, but it shifted. The fear was still present, a low thrum beneath the surface, but it was now intertwined with a newfound sense of purpose, of shared burden. My veins still glowed, but now, it felt less like a mark of my curse and more like a testament to the power that lay within, a power I might finally be able to wield not just for survival, but for something more. For a future, however uncertain, that I wouldn’t have to face entirely alone. The choice, astonishingly, had been made. And it was a choice for connection, for courage, and for the terrifying, beautiful possibility of a shared path, even in the shadow of the system.
