…I could feel the familiar thrum of my power resurfacing, a desperate surge of defiance. Thorne watched me, a calculating smile playing on his lips. He had revealed his hand, his chilling agenda, and in doing so, had pushed me to the brink. The fear was still there, a cold knot in my stomach, but it was now tempered by a steely resolve. They wanted to control creation? They wanted to harness my power? They would find that some things, some forces, could not be so easily contained. And as the first operative lunged, I met his charge, my glowing veins flaring with a nascent, terrifying fury. The fight for survival had just taken a far more dangerous, and personal, turn.
