Tomorrow, he would see Skye again. But tonight, he let himself simply feel. The warmth of the small creature in his lap, the tick of the clock, the soft hum of the world outside. It was enough. And in her house next door, Skye sat at her own window, a cup of tea in her hands, watching his silhouette. She smiled, a tired but genuine smile, and allowed herself to believe that maybe, just maybe, this was the beginning of something beautiful.
