…The air felt lighter, the world somehow sharper, more vibrant. The ‘Crusty Loaf’ still smelled of damp wool and stale biscuits, but now, Stuart found himself smiling at the aroma. It was just… a café. And he was just… Stuart. A 56-year-old man who had finally, after all these years, stopped listening to the phantom whispers and started hearing his own voice. The path ahead was still uncertain, but for the first time in a long time, Stuart Finch felt ready to walk it, with a chuckle and a newfound lightness in his step. The shadow had been confronted, and in its place, a flicker of self-acceptance, warm and promising, had begun to glow.
