…Nina looked at William, his face flushed with excitement as he described the aliens they would meet. He wasn’t just the boy in the wheelchair anymore. He was William, her new friend, the co-pilot of their rocket ship to the moon. And Nina, the girl who had felt a flutter of shyness just minutes before, felt a wave of pure joy wash over her. She had invited him to play, and in doing so, she had opened a door, not just for William, but for everyone. The classroom felt bigger, brighter, and full of a wonderful, new kind of magic. As the rocket ship grew taller and taller, so did the laughter and the sense of belonging that filled the room.
