She knew, with a certainty that flickered like a tiny flame in her heart, that she had to find him. She unfurled her wings, shaking off the mud and water. They were still damp, still heavy, but they were her wings. And she would use them. She would start by looking for any sign, any trace, of her steady, kindest friend. The meadow was different, yes, but perhaps, just perhaps, it held new paths, new hopes, waiting to be discovered. The adventure, though terrifying, had begun.
