Rohan looked at his palm, the symbol invisible now. "Then we learn how to use them first. And we find out who—or what—is watching." Maya nodded, her heart still racing. She touched the locket in her pocket, feeling its cool metal. The first step was clear: find Elara, return the locket, and see if their new powers were a blessing or a burden. But as she turned toward home, a faint blue light flickered at the edge of the woods, just for a second, before dying out. Something was waiting. And it knew where they lived.
