…As the date of our journey loomed closer, a complex tapestry of emotions unfurled within me. There was the profound sadness for the father I had lost, the lingering ache of his absence. Yet, beneath that sorrow, a current of excitement flowed, a burgeoning anticipation of meeting relatives I had never known, of finally reconnecting with the roots that had always felt just beyond my reach. Gratitude washed over me, a deep appreciation for this opportunity to bridge the years of separation and reclaim a part of my identity. Little did I know, that journey to Western Kenya would unfold into one of the most profoundly emotional and unforgettable experiences of my life.
