…Sally felt a wave of icy dread wash over her. The air grew even colder, and the strange, sweet-metallic smell intensified, making her gag. She could feel Emily’s small hand, cold and trembling, find hers in the blackness. But it wasn’t Emily’s warmth she felt, it was a chilling echo, a reflection of the dread that consumed her. This was no longer a game. This was a battle for her daughter’s soul, for their very lives. And the darkness in the room of shadows had just begun to show its true face.
