…The house was quiet, a peaceful, contented quiet. The shadows that crept into the corners were just shadows, nothing more. The windows reflected the warm glow of the setting sun, not the hollow gaze of an unwanted visitor. The bond between mother and daughter, tested by the darkness, had emerged stronger, brighter. They had faced the monstrous imaginary friend and, together, they had found their way back to the light. The lingering fear was slowly being replaced by a deep, abiding sense of peace. Selly was gone, and in her absence, their home, their lives, were finally their own again. The adventure was over, and the quiet, ordinary magic of their lives had returned.
