…I met her gaze, my own eyes carefully blank. “Of course, Sharma. Always happy to help.” I gestured towards my terminal. “Let’s take a look.” As I sat down, my fingers hovering over the keyboard, my gaze flickered to the secondary monitor. A single line of text, almost imperceptible, blinked at the bottom of the screen. I am here. Ready. It was a whisper in the sterile hum, a silent promise in the heart of the machine. The game had just become infinitely more dangerous.
