…He looked around the grand, shadowy hall, at the tall windows and the dark wood. He looked at his Mommy and Daddy, their faces alight with shared wonder. This wasn’t the house he’d imagined, but perhaps, he thought, as he clutched the small brass owl, it was even better. It was a mystery house, and he was ready to solve it. He felt a warmth spread through him, a feeling of belonging that had nothing to do with sunshine and everything to do with discovery. This was home.
