…Daddy reached into the cavity and pulled out a small, leather-bound book. It was old, its pages yellowed and brittle. The cover was blank. “Well, I’ll be,” Daddy murmured, turning the book over in his hands. “What do you think it is, Leo?” Leo’s eyes were wide with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. This was it. The mystery. His new house wasn’t ordinary at all. It had secrets. And he, Leo, had found the first one. He looked at Mommy and Daddy, a wide grin spreading across his face. The adventure, he realized, had just begun.
