Malad, Idaho: Forged in Frontier Fire

Previously

…The railroad had brought connection and opportunity, but it had also brought the harsh realities of a wider world’s economic woes. Yet, the townspeople did not despair. They gathered at The Dude Ranch Cafe, their voices quieter, but their resolve firm. They shared what little they had, offered what comfort they could, and looked to each other for strength. The potatoes still grew, the cattle still grazed, and the river, though sometimes stingy, still flowed. They knew, deep in their bones, that Malad was a place that knew how to bounce back. The fire that had forged it had tempered it, and the roots that ran deep into the valley’s soil held firm against the winds of change.
