…A soft knock at her door made her jump. "Luna? Are you awake, sweetheart?" her mother's voice, laced with a worry that tugged at Luna's heart. Luna took a deep breath, the lavender-scented air filling her lungs. She was home. And she was ready to face whatever came next, armed with the knowledge that even in the deepest darkness, a flicker of light could always be found. She turned from the window, a small, determined smile gracing her lips. "I'm awake, Mom," she called back, her voice, though still a child's, now carried a new, quiet strength. "I'm home."
