…A sense of peace settled over me, a feeling I hadn’t expected to find amid the academic pressures and existential anxieties of university. I was still Raheel Awan, the guy who sometimes tripped over his own feet and often felt a little bewildered. But for the first time, I felt like that was okay. More than okay, actually. It was perfectly, wonderfully, and hilariously me. The university may not have given me a clear path, but it had given me something far more valuable: the permission to find my own, even if it was a little unconventional, and to enjoy the journey, pizza boxes and all.
