…But for me, they were also the crucible in which my unique brand of bewildered optimism was forged. I was learning, through a series of spectacular failures, that perhaps the best way to navigate life wasn’t to try and be someone else, but to simply be the most hilariously awkward version of myself. The journey was far from over, but for the first time, the prospect of continuing to stumble through it, with a wry smile and a good dose of self-deprecation, didn’t seem so terrifying after all. In fact, it was starting to feel… well, almost like an adventure. A slightly clumsy, perpetually confused, but undeniably mine own adventure.
