…The orb pulsed one last time, a blinding flash that momentarily erased all of existence. When the light subsided, the figure was still there, standing firm, the orb now a steady, unwavering flame in their hand. The nameless things had retreated, their whispers silenced, their hunger momentarily sated by the sheer audacity of the defiance. The ancient being, its form now a shimmering, ethereal mist, seemed to regard the figure with a new, albeit alien, respect. The Ex Inferni had been challenged, not by force, but by the indomitable spirit of one who refused to be extinguished. The fight had just begun.
