The fate of their lives, and perhaps countless others, hung precariously in the balance, suspended in the heart of a cosmic entity that pulsed with the very essence of existence. They could protect it, try to shield it from Silas. They could attempt to destroy it, to deny Silas its power, even at the cost of silencing a nascent cosmic consciousness.
