…She walked back toward the guesthouse, the locket swinging gently at her neck. The sun was dipping toward the horizon, casting a golden glow over everything. She stopped and turned to look at the lighthouse one last time. It stood tall, a sentinel against the sky. In the distance, she thought she saw a figure on the rocks—a woman with her arms outstretched, her face turned to the light. But when she blinked, it was gone. Klarina smiled and continued walking. The gold was in the light that never fades. And she was carrying it with her.
