…Aurelia would often find herself watching Charming, her heart doing a funny little flutter-kick whenever he smiled. His eyes, the color of a summer sky just before twilight, seemed to hold a universe of kindness, and when they met hers, it felt as if they were the only two people in the entire kingdom. He’d tell her stories of faraway lands he’d read about in the royal library, his voice a warm rumble that made her feel safe and cherished. And she, in turn, would share her dreams, whispers of what life might be like beyond the castle walls, of adventures yet to be had. One afternoon, as they sat by the whispering fountain, its
