…A searing, silent scream ripped through the air, not of sound, but of pure, unadulterated magic. Hoodon’s form dissolved into an inferno of black and red, consumed by the very darkness she wielded. The oppressive spells that had choked the city evaporated, and with them, Betty’s blindness and deafness receded, replaced by the harsh reality of the battlefield. Her vision cleared, her hearing returned, and she looked down at the Devil’s Spear, its tip still smoldering. For a fleeting moment, she swore she heard a voice, a dark, seductive whisper from the devil’s spirit bound within the weapon. Then, the surge of power receded, and Betty, drained and trembling, collapsed onto the ground.
