…Toons thanked the geese and turned his attention back to the sticky trail. It was subtle, almost invisible, but now that he knew what to look for, he could see it clearly. It snaked across the cobblestones, past the candied nut stall, and towards a cluster of bushes at the edge of the festival grounds. His heart gave a little thump of anticipation. He was getting closer. He could almost taste the victory… and maybe, just maybe, a forgotten donut. With a determined glint in his eye, Detective Toons followed the sticky footprints, his tail held high, ready for whatever, or whoever, awaited him in the undergrowth.
