George's Manners Matter

…“Yes!” Papa said. “That’s much better than hiding them.” George ate the rest of his dinner carefully. He chewed with his mouth closed, asked nicely for things, and kept his elbows off the table. When it was time for apple pie, Mama smiled. “George, you have been such a wonderful dinner guest tonight! Your manners are excellent.” “He’s eating like a little gentleman,” Papa agreed. George felt happy inside. He had tried hard, and his parents noticed! “Thank you for teaching me!” George said, looking at his mom and dad. “Thank you for dinner!” He helped clear the table, too. Being polite, George thought, made dinner taste even better!
