…“Is it over?” Amir asked. Samira looked at the others. They were dirty, exhausted, bruised. But alive. “I think so,” she said. Chloe wiped tears from her eyes. “We did it. We closed the gate.” “We survived,” Marcus said quietly. “That's something.” Liam cracked a small smile. “Yeah. Something.” Garcia holstered her shotgun. “Now what?” Samira took a deep breath. The air was clean. The world was broken, but it was still there. And they were still together. “Now we find others,” she said. “We rebuild. And we never forget what we saw.” They walked out of the alley, into a city that was silent but no longer screaming. The rapture had ended. And against all odds, they had survived.
