…The light began to filter through the curtains, soft and pale. The being felt the change, the shift from dark to light, and it turned toward it. The world was growing, expanding, filling with new sensations. The being stretched, pushing against the walls of its world, testing its strength. It was not afraid. The mother’s heartbeat was there, a steady drum. The father’s hand was there, a warm anchor. And the light was there, a promise of something more. The being settled, floating in the warmth, listening to the sounds of the waking world. It did not know what would come next, but it was ready. It was curious. It was loved. And that was enough for now.
