…The purple tulips I had bought for her that morning, still clutched in my hand, now seemed like mocking symbols of a love that would never be. I laid them gently on the water, watching as they bobbed and drifted, carried away by the gentle current, a silent tribute to the woman who had been my entire world. The ring, heavy in my pocket, felt like a burning ember, a symbol of a promise unfulfilled, a love story tragically cut short. I pulled it out, its diamond catching the faint starlight, and placed it beside the wilting tulips. A silent offering, a love token for the woman I had lost, and would forever cherish, beside the silent, unforgiving lake.
