…Alpha looked at his mother, then back at the vast, inviting emptiness before him. He took a deep breath, or what felt like a deep breath for a creature his size, filling his small lungs with the crisp, clean air of White Rock Lake. He felt a surge of something powerful, something that made his tiny heart beat even faster, not with fear, but with a thrilling anticipation. He was ready. He felt it, deep down in his very core. He was ready to try. He was ready to fly. His siblings watched, their eyes wide, a mixture of awe and apprehension painting their fluffy faces. Alpha was about to do something they couldn't even imagine. He was about to be brave.
