She nodded, her hand closing around the drive, a silent promise. Then, the world went black. The last thing I heard was Thorne’s voice, a silken murmur as the world faded away, “The reset has begun.” And somewhere, in the silent hum of the compromised servers, a cascade of encrypted data began its desperate journey into the unknown.
