…“I want to live.” It felt like a confession, a declaration, a prayer. It was the first honest thing I had written about myself in years. The ink on the page, dark and stark against the white expanse, seemed to hold a promise. It was a tiny flicker, a nascent spark in the overwhelming darkness, but it was enough. It was the beginning. The labyrinth was still vast, the shadows still loomed, but for the first time, I could see a faint, beckoning light. And I knew, with a certainty that surprised me, that I was going to follow it.
