A small, almost imperceptible smile touched her lips. Perhaps, she mused, even dragons deserved a little peace. And perhaps, just perhaps, she’d enjoyed the chase a little too much. She shook her head, a tiny, triumphant shake. For now, though, her meadow was hers. And that was all that mattered. The sun dipped lower, casting long, golden shadows across the grass, and Sammy, the victorious fairy, felt a deep, contented sigh escape her lips. The quiet hum of her meadow was the sweetest victory song she could ever imagine.
