The trees were broken, the earth torn. The air still thrummed with residual energy. Elara stood at the edge of the chasm, the echoes of the battle fading, replaced by a profound silence. He was alone, surrounded by enemies, and the truth he sought was more elusive, and more terrifying, than he could have ever imagined. The shadow had grasped, and its grip had only tightened.
