…Benji hesitated, his gaze drifting towards the shadowy woods. The memory of Emily’s fate was still too fresh, too terrifying. But then he looked at Alex, at the grim determination on his face, and a spark of defiance ignited within him. He couldn’t let fear paralyze him. Not when Alex was willing to face it head-on. “Okay,” Benji said, his voice steadier now. “The library. Let’s go.” As they turned to walk towards the town square, the late afternoon sun cast long, distorted shadows that seemed to stretch and writhe, hinting at things unseen. The game had truly begun, and Alex knew, with a chilling certainty, that Copycat was playing to win.
